Here's a handy guide of some of the best events happening at the city's culture venues. Which will you choose to do?
1. Lotherton Hall
Take a trip to Lotherton on June 16 at 2pm for a show with Tayo Aluko featuring songs, poetry and prose. Aluko showcases his baritone voice in a wide-ranging programme, from folk songs to jazz and opera. This will be performed outdoors in the walled garden and will have limited seating available.
2. Leeds Kirkgate Market
Head to Leeds Kirkgate Market to see quality contemporary art and high quality craft on display. The work will be available to purchase from artists and crafters who are mostly from Leeds and Yorkshire. This is a free speciality market taking place on Saturday, June 19 from 10am.
3. Leeds Playhouse
A free, foyer exhibition celebrating 50 years of Leeds Playhouse and its many memorable shows and events. Curated by Courtney Spencer, the exhibition which marks the theatre's reopening includes illustrations by artist Cait McEniff. It is inspired by Playhouse memories and draws on the theatre's archive. 4. Leeds Industrial Museum
Discover the history of some of Leeds’s greatest inventions and the people behind them- including what may have been Leeds' first selfie. An inventor and astronomer captured the snap of himself at Kirkstall Abbey more than 130 years ago. The Leeds to Innovation online exhibition aims to create, shape and innovate.
5. Leeds Central Library
A Brief History of Cemeteries in Leeds is an online event exploring history - from their origins in the 18th century ‘Improvement Acts,’ to explosive disputes between Vicars and burial boards and the emergence of cemeteries as sites of significant community memory - told using Leeds Central Library local history collections.
6. Yorkshire's Brain Tumour Charity
Yorkshire’s Brain Tumour Charity is launching a new walking group, Ramble On (North Leeds), to help those who have lost loved ones to brain cancer meet others in a similar situation. Starting around Roundhay Park on June 14 - 11am, Lakeside Cafe. Call support coordinator Paula Dalton, 07838 023279, to join.
