Hide AdWolves' best chance came on the stroke of half-time but Whites keeper Illan Meslier produced a strong save to keep out a thunderous drive from Daniel Podence.
Wolves then looked to have taken the lead shortly after the break with a thunderous volley from Romain Saiss but a VAR check led to the effort being ruled out for offside.
Meslier then produced a fine save to tip a powerful shot from Podence behind for a corner as Wolves began the second half looking like a different side to the one seen before the break.
The visitors then bagged the only goal of the game in the 70th minute but with a huge slice of good fortune as Jimenez cut inside and unleashed an effort that took a huge deflection off Kalvin Phillips to beat Meslier.
