WHAT a generous lot of people we have in Leeds.

Yorkshire folk might have a reputation for being miserly but Dickie Bird has hit that for six with a donation of £30,000 of his own money for the Children’s Heart Surgery Fund.

We all know Dickie’s got a golden heart and now he has shown that to the world.

The news comes on the day that we report how a company had donated money to Toby Nye’s £200,000 appeal to pay for treatment for a rare form of cancer.

It is good to know that this area has such generous and thoughtful people. It makes us proud to be from Yorkshire.
